Mozambique’s state-owned utility, Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), has announced a $40 million investment in new solar and wind projects across the country via the Renewable Energy Auction Program (PROLER).
Set to generate 30 MW of electricity each, the projects aim to improve access to electricity throughout the southern African country.
With the investment, and over the next five years, EDM aims to increase the company’s current capacity by 600 MW including 200 MW from renewable energy sources, thereby significantly improving electricity access and contributing to national targets of universal access to electricity by 2030.
