The story behind The Spade Boutique Hotel and Spa
Located 24km away from the Cape Town International Airport and close to major Mother City attractions, Spade was brought to life by former flight attendant Annette Skaap.
Having travelled to exotic destinations like Dubai, Mauritius and Singapore, Skaap wanted to bring the world to Khayelitsha.
“I want to change the narrative that nothing good can come out of a township. We are changing the narrative and challenging the status quo, so that our guests can experience cultural diversity, vibrant and lively township life while tucked in class and opulence at grass root level.
“People need to experience the energy and share spaces with ordinary South Africans,” said Skaap.
The hotel allows guests to “experience the other side of Cape Town and more beyond the city.” The aim is to showcase diverse and authentic South African experiences that they will cherish long after they leave the city.
